Thanks to the diversity of natural and climatic conditions there exist the large number of elementary plants and animalcular organisms on the small territory of Armenia. Animal biodiversity is also characterised by the abundance of endemic, connate and rare species. Armenia is also considered one of the world centres of agro-biodiversity.

The history of Armenian poster began from the middle of 19th century. The first kept samples were playbills.
The first political poster Mother Armenia was devoted to the national-liberation struggle.
The Soviet period of Armenian poster, where propaganda and satire occupied the appreciable place, began
in 1921. In 1979 in the House of Artist of Armenia the first republican poster exhibition was open.
The Armenian poster has received new qualities and creative pulse on a wave of desintegration of USSR
and on a threshold of finding by Armenia an independence.

25 June 2003. CENTENARY OF THE BIRTH OF ARAM KHACHATOURIAN 1903-1978

Aram Khachaturian (1903-1978), composer, conductor, pedagogue, public figure. By his efforts Armenian national music has got the wild recognition. In 1942 he wrote Gayaneh and in 1954 Spartakus ballets. He is the author of the first national ballet, symphony, instrumental concerts and founder of Armenian music films.

26 June 2003. WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY

In 1972 under the leadership of General Assembly of UN June 5th was proclaimed as a World Environment Day. The draining works of Lake Gilli started from 1959-1960. The decision of the establishment of the Sevan public park was made in 1978. By the same document lake Gilli should be rehabilitated in the park area. In 2000 started the rehabilitation processes and all planned works. The problem of lake Gilli was produced as an issue of global significance for the protection of biodiversity. Larus Armenicus. Charadriiformes type of birds. Wings are long and sharp. There are black and red colour blends on their beak. Their neck becomes perpendicular when they make voice. Both sexes have the same colour. Dominated white, brown and black colours. Seaside birds, inhabited on the shore of Lake Sevan. Registered in the Red Data Book of Armenia.

09 OCT. 2003. 10th ANNIVERSARY OF TRACECA PROGRAMME

TRACECA programme was initiated at the Conference in Brussels, in May 1993, involving Ministers of Trade and Transport from 8 South Caucausian and Middle Asian countries, including Armenia. In the period of 1996-2000 Ukraine, Mongolia, Moldova, Bulgaria and Turkey joined TRACECA programme. From 9-10 of October was organized the Third Annual Conference of TRACECA Intergovernmental Commission, where was pointed the 10th anniversary of the programme.

24 NOV. 2003. 175th ANNIVERSARY OF THE FIRST ARMENIAN POSTAL DISPATCH

The first post office in Armenian region was the Erivan Postal Expedition, opened on March 1, 1828, which passed through Tiflis-Alahverdi-Gharakilisa-Alexandrapol-Erivan' stations. It involved only one dispatcher. The expedition used the sealing wax cancel without dates with two-head eagle in the middle and the text Ýðèâàíñêàÿ ïî÷òîâàÿ ýêñïåäèöèÿ.

25 NOV. 2003. 125th ANNIVERSARY OF THE BIRTH OF SIAMANTO

Siamanto (Atom Yarchanyan) (1878-1915) An Armenian poet, a distinguished representative of Armenian poetry. He created free measured style, new words and collocations to the poetry that made huge potential for expression. Being an outstanding representative of Armenian neorealism, he could gather in his art the aesthetic principles of national romantism and symbolizm.

26 NOV. 2003. 10th ANNIVERSARY OF ARMENIAN CURRENCY

On the 19th of November of 1993 by the agreement N15 of the National Commission of the currency operation of RA was announced: "22nd, November, 1993 at 00.00 in the territory of RA the legal currency become the tickets of 10, 25, 50, 100, 200, 500 and etc. of 1993 presented by the Central Bank of RA". Armenian currency was put in the circulation with the course 1 dram = 200 rubles and 1 dram = 100 lumas.

27 NOV. 2003. 125th ANNIVERSARY OF THE BIRTH OF VAHAN TEKEYAN

Vahan Tekeyan (1878-1945) An Armenian poet, publicist, statesman, great master of sonnet in Armenian literature. He was the last representative of national poetry of Western Armenia and the first great person in poetry of colonial Armenia. He wrote the tales, chronics, which objects were life of colonial Armenians and national-liberation movement. Also wrote many publical and literature articles.

28 NOV. 2003. III PAN-ARMENIAN GAMES

The Third Pan-Armenian Games took place in Yerevan from 16 till 26 of August. In the 10 types of games there were participated the athletes from more than 82 cities of 31 countries.

Miniature from the Gospel of Ejmiatsin, 989 Armenian minature is distinguished with its high art merits, an originality, a variety of styles and schools. From the earliest period were kept insignificant number of illustrated manuscripts. One of such monuments is the Gospel of Ejmiatsin and four miniatures. Zakaria's annunciation day, Maria's annunciation day, Worship of the magi and The Baptism that were enclosed to the end of Gospel of Ejmiatsin by unknown author of VI-VII centuries.

28 NOV. 2003. SCIENCE AND TECHNIQUE OF ARMENIA (II issue).

Human brain on the background of neurons Neurophysiology investigates the functions of neuro system. In Physiological Institute of AAS RA named by academic L.A.Orbeli studied the common and separate physiology and plastic qualities of neuro system. For the development of neurophysiology in Armenia were assisted works of Armenian physiologists L.Orbeli, E.Hasratian, A.Aleksanyan, V.Fanarjian and others.
