The Copperworks
Even in VI-V centuries Armenia became the cradle of the copperworks and its utilization. The copper things and the objects from its alloys have been discovered in Ani, Dvin, Metsamor and in the other ancient areas. Today in Armenia exsists the mountainous-metallurgical combinat of Alaverdi, which is the only one that melts the copper in Transcaucausus.
The Beer Brewing
The beer brewing is known to Armenians for a long time. By the testimonies of Greece historian Kseno-fon the beer brewing developed in Armenia from V-VI centuries B.C. (Anabasis). Today Armenian beer is well known and it has won the various prizes and medals, also the gold, in the numerous international exhibitions.

Edgar Chahine 1874-1947
Armenian artist. His works are the great creations of Armenian art and European painting of 20th century. He is the great master of carve. His works are presented in the NationalLibrary of Paris, Public museum of Venice and in the personal collection of the National Gallery of Armenia.

Hakob Gurjian 1881-1948
Armenian sculptor. He was the first who created the diverse genres of works. He endowed with the comprehensive content and an art generalizations. His works were presented in Paris, Tokyo, Oslo, New-York and other cities. He was participated in the Beauty arts of the National Association of Paris and other exhibitions. He created more than 300 works.

Begining from 1930 the World CUP started its games. Armenian teams participated in that competitions since 1996.
World Cup 2002 will be organized in South Korea and Japan, where the 32 national teams are involved. The place of the final games will become Tokohama (Japan).

09 May 2002. 125th ANNIVERSARY OF THE BIRTH OF HOVSEP PUSHMAN 1877-1966

Armenian artist, painted portraits and original still livies on the basis of Armenian parchment manuscripts, talismans, incense plates and ancient ornaments. He underlined the objects illumination as a trial to reveal those ancient secrets. His works are presented in the various galleries: Metropoliten (New-York), Peti't Cale' (Paris), National Gallery of Armenia.

The statesman of USSR and the organizer of industry. The great metallurgical engineer, the author of the fundomental work The spill of the qualified and high level steels. By his commission there was wrote the report how to make the search of gold and silver mines in Armenia more perspective. By his efforts the governmental solution was signed about the buildings of the copper-molybdenite establishments.

Temporarily the wooden building of circus was built in Yerevan in 1930. It was rebuilt in 1937 and finally reconstucted in 1950. In 1956 the Armenian circus staff was recruited. Such representatives as: the trainer S.Israyelian, the clown L.Yengibarian, the ekvilibrist V.Arzumanian and the others, were working there.

In 1938 he organized the national variety orchestra and became its art manager. Aivazian was the initiator of national variety music. He could combine some directions of variety music and jaz with the rythms and intonations of Armenian melody.

24 September 2002. ARCHITECTURAL MONUMENTS OF ARMENIA.THE CATHEDRAL OF ANI

Cathedral of Ani, the architectural monument of the Middle Centuries, was built by architect Trdat in 989-1001. It was founded by the order of the king Smbat II and ended with the patronize of the wife of the king Gagik I the queen Katranide'. It was devoted to the Blessed Virgin. By its high merits of art composition the Cathedral of Ani became one of the architectural masterpieces of Armenia. Some European scientists think that the volume composition of the interior elements and its proportionality (double-centered arches, column groupings) had development in the late Gothic Architecture of XII-XIV centuries.

21 Dec 2002. THE CENTENARY OF ALEXANDRAPOL-YEREVAN RAILWAY

The train on the background of the station of Yerevan Tbilisi-Alexandrapol railway (213,8) was the one of the first railway in Armenia. It started to exploit in 1899. Alexandrapol-Ulukhanlu (Masis)-Yerevan railway (163km) started to exploit on the 6th of December in 1902. The whole length of nowdays railway of the Republic of Armenia is 868km.

Galanthus Artjuschenkoae

Is a new type for Armenia. Is met only in two floristic regions, in the South and North of Armenia, in the oak-hornbeam forests with a large number of populations, also in the low and middle mountain zones.

Merendera Mirzoevae

The endemic and rare type in Armenia. There are only three small number of populations. Can be met in the floristic regions, grows in the dry mountainous slopes, in the low and middle mountain zones.

24 December 2002. COSMIC RESEARCHES

The research stations of Cosmic Ray Division of Yerevan Physics Institute are located at mt. Aragats (2000 and 3200m above sea level) in Armenia. In the world they represent those unique stations which investigate the galactic and solar cosmic rays, as well as perform studies of the solar activity and space weather forecasting.

The space observatories Orion 1 and Orion 2 were processed in the laboratory of space astronomy of Garni under the direction of G. A. Gurzadian. First time by Orion 2 were maid weak, till the 13th value of ultraviolet spectors of stars. They were located at the Salute and Soyus -13 spaceships.
