DIABETES MELLITUS

The monograph is dedicated to the burning problem of
present day health care, namely diabetes mellitus. The findings
of the epidemiological study carried out in the Republic of
Armenia are presented. The basic contemporary principles of
prophylactics, medical deontology and treatment (deontotherapy,
peroral hypoglycemizing preparations, insulin) of diabetes
mellitus of the first and second types are outlined.
Special attention has been given to the problem of surgical
intervention in regard of patients suffering from diabetes
mellitus, as well as to problems of its complications,
angiopathies: myocardial infarction, nephropathy, lesion of
vessels of lower extremities and to treatment tactics. The
authors deemed it important to enlarge on the subject of one
particular complication of diabetes mellitus, namely,
ketoacidotic coma. At the same time the results of treatment of
diabetes mellitus using unconventional methods, such as phyto
therapy, sorption detoxification, transplantation of insular
culture of pancreatic b-cells are given. The problems treated
include also: diabetes mellitus and pregnancy, sexual function
of men at diabetes mellitus.
