In the book of Prof. V.M. Haroutyunian, Doctor of Medical Sciences, and Prof. R. A. Grigorian, Doctor of Medical Sciences, etiopathogenesis, clinic, complications and pathogenetically substantiated treatment of acute and chronic pancreatitis are considered from the viewpoint of the last scientific achievements.

Some new ideas about pathophysiological shifts taking place in the internal medium of organisms and in vital organs and systems during acute pancreatitis and pancreatogenic peritonitis and the corresponding statistical date are presented.
A new system of recommendations is developed and main aspects of the complex pathogenetic treatment are elucidated. Particular attention has been given to problems of detoxification, antifermentative and cytostatic therapy, as well as to detection of organ or organs' insufficiency and to principles of its regulation.
