"Microelectronics and biomedical devices" chair of State Engineering University of Armenia (SEUA)

The chair was founded in 1968 on the faculty of Technical Cybernetics of Yerevan Politechnical Institute by the initiative of prominent specialist in electronics, Moscow Engineering-Physical Institute professor, technical sciences doctor, Tadevos M. Agakhanian. At first the chair was named "Semiconductor devices".

The first graduation of the chair had been in 1971 with conferment of "Electronic technics' engineer" qualification. The first head of the chair became John Martirossian, technical sciences candidate, docent, who led this post until December 1977.

In 1972 the chair was renamed in the "chair of semiconductors and dielectrics", and from January 1978 to June 1996 the chair was at the head of technical sciences doctor, professor Senik H. Mkrtichyan. In 1979 the chair was renamed to "Microelectronic and semiconductor devices" (by the name of corresponding speciality).

In 1988 the chair began to graduate specialists with "Biomedical electronics" specialization as well. In this connection since April 1996 the chair was renamed to "Microelectronics and biomedical microelectronic devices". Since June 1996 the head of the chair is Marat A. Mouradian, docent, who is specialist in medical devices' construction.

The basic directions of chair's scientific activity are: microelectronics, physics and technology of semiconductor devices, circuitry. In last years the chair is engaging in the biomedical devices construction and neurocomputers (hardware) elaboration questions.

During it's 28-years activity the chair had graduated more than 2500 engineers of electronic technics' area, who are successfully working today on industrial enterprises as high-qualified specialists and on leading positions, as well as in some foreign firms.

Through the post-graduate school of the chair more than 30 persons had recieved the scientific degrees. By the powers of collaborators of chair there were publicated 4 monographies, 3 textbooks, over 150 scientific articles, received over 100 author certificates and patents. Through the institute typography 25 scientific-methodical textbooks were published. On the scientific-technical conferences were presented over 100 scientific reports.
