BLACK KIDDY
|
In a deep forest
there lived a goat. She had a lovely black kiddy. Every day she left the kiddy
at home and went to the pasture to graze. All day long she grazed and in the
evening she came home, her breast full of milk. Coming home she knocked at
the door and called:
Black
kiddy,
Lovely sonny, I've walked over hill and dale, I've made sweet milk for you, Open the door let me in, And I'll give you sweet milk, Black kiddy, Lovely sonny! The kiddy jumped to his feet and opened the door. Mother goat gave him milk and went out to the pasture again. The wolf watched all this secretly. |
One evening before the goat came, he approached the door, knocked at it and
called in his hoarse voice:
Black kiddy,
Lovely sonny,
I've walked over hill and dale.
I've made sweet milk for you.
Open the door let me in,
And I'll give you sweet, sweet milk,
Black kiddy,
Lovely sonny!
The kiddy listened and listened and then asked: "Who are you? I don't know
you. My mother doesn't call that way. She has sweet, soft voice. Your voice
is harsh and rough. I won't open the door. Go away,.. I don't want you." The
wolf went away. Soon the mother came, knocked at the door and called: Black
kiddy, Lovely sonny, I've walked over hill and dale. I've made sweet milk
for you, Open the door let me in, And I'll give you sweet, sweet milk, Black
kiddy, Lovely sonny! The kiddy opened the door, sucked sweet milk and told
his mother: "You know, Mummy, what happened. A while ago someone came, knocked
at he door and called:
Black kiddy,
Lovely sonny...
He told me to open the door. He had such a harsh voice. Oh, I was so scared,
I didn't open the door. I told him I didn't want anything, I told him to go
away..." "Ba, ba, ha, ba, dear Blacky, it's good you didn't open the door,"
said the frightened mother. "It was the wolf, it had come to eat you. If he
comes again, don't open the door, tell him to go away. "Go away," you tell
him, "if you don't go away my mother will kill you with her sharp horns."
