Organized Activities


Since the creation of the State Committee for Organizing Activities for the 1700th Anniversary of the Proclamation of Christianity as the State Religion of Armenia, the Committee has held ten plenary and 32 sub-committee meetings. Five State Commigee meetings have taken place in conjunction with the ecclesiastical committee. These two committees have held numerous studies.

During 1994-1996, the State Committee has received hundreds of suggestions about numerous activities. These suggestions have been examined by the sub-committees of scientific publication, cultural activities, activities for general recognition and preaching, participation of international organizations, and for the coordination of sub- committees during their sessions and have been presented to the State Committee. The following activities have been organized under the auspices of the State Committee during 1994-1996:

Exhibition of enian art in Bochum, Germany, Armenian Cultural Days in Moscow, "Armenian Literature" exhibition at the National Library in Paris, various exhibitions at the National Art Gallery of enia, the opening of the religious music section at the Gomidas State Conservatory in Yerevan, the debut of the "Prometheus" opera in Yerevan, the opening of the School of Theology at Yerevan State University, the placing of a "khatchkar" (cross-stone) at the UNESCO headquarters in Paris, the publication of articles related to the 1700'" anniversary of the proclamation of Christianity in the enian and international press, the release of 15 commemorative stamps and 4 stamp books with the "Christianity-1700" theme.
